DNN Expandable Text/HTML

The DNN Expandable Text/HTML module allows you to display multiple text items with the ability to expand and collapse individual items.  This allows you to store a large amount of information in a small area, yet still allowing your users easy access to information.

This module employs client-side expanding/collapsing actions therefore the user has a very rich, active experience when viewing the content displayed in ths module.  The possiblities for use are endless, however most common implementions are completed to obtain FAQ like functionality.

This release included the sponsored development of a "display limit" setting.  You can see this feature in action within this intance with the version history only showing the first five items by default and the "Click here to view full history" link is a customizable text item.

In addition to this a new feature was added allowing for the optional use of jQuery for expanding/collapsing of the items in the list.  This is also demonstrated in this module version, simply notice the new effects when expanding/collapsing items.

This release was primarily a performance and infrastructure release in preparation for the 3.0.0 release which will include many new features including support for jQuery effects for a better user expand and collapse experience.

This release resolves issues with image URL's not working properly in child portal installations.

This release included performance enhancements to the mdoule to ensure that the module is a good citizen in the DNN environment, the following details are the items included in this release.

  • Support for DNN module caching with default cache time of 1200 seconds (20 minutes)
  • Code streamlining in administration sections to reduce processing overhead and improve rendering time.
  • Modified image linking to ensure links to images work EVERY time!

Please note, to enable caching on an existing module you MUST change the cache time value in module settings.  Please see the support forums for any assistance
