I was really excited when I ran across this quiz module. I couldn't find anything like this available for DNN for years. I was going to pass this off to my teachers to use for their classes, but ran into some problems while testing it. - When a person takes a quiz, if they don't get the minimum percentage correct it shows them the answers and forces them to take it again. We need to be able to record the results of the quiz, as taken, regardless of the result and "not" show them the correct answers. - The minimum passing percentage is 30%. This, combined with the previous problem, makes it impossible to take a test with an accurate result. If the module is left as-is, we'd need the minimum passing to go down to 0% so they could take the test once and be done with it. - the quiz results are not stored, only the percentage correct. We need to be able to see "which" questions the student got wrong. Otherwise, it looks great and is easy to use (our major requirement). What is the roadmap for this module? I don't want to sound too demanding for a free module... In fact, we'd be willing to pay for a good quiz module, as it is one of the things we've been looking for for quite awhile now.

Dan, You are 100% correct, right now the quiz is really setup as a "one run" type module, recording success or failure, but let me comment on a few of your items. One other note first, you can view the full roadmap here - http://productsupport.iowacomputergurus.com/Bugs/RoadMap.aspx?pid=9 Feel free to add enhancement requests as well. Basically all of your items are on the roadmap, and will be addressed in the 3.0 release. The data is there for the reporting item as well. We are hoping to get a new release soon, but with the free modules, we are doing development on an "as possible" basis. Paying work, and "sponsored enhancements" are completed first, but we are doing everything possible to get this module updated as we know it is an area that has limited options within DNN. |

Awesome, thanks! On my work DNN install, I am running close to 100 portals for teacher use. The addition of a quiz module would be a fantastic benefit, and it wasn't until this year that other quiz modules became available on Snowcovered, and most of those are pretty cheesy.

Dan, I hope to be able to get the 3.0 roadmap completed within the next month and a half as long as things stay the way they are scheduled now. If you have not done so, I'd signup for our module newsletter so that you can get notification on roadmap and release information. |

I've just downloaded and installed you quiz module, great job! We are new to DNN, but have some tests written in Delphi that we will need to convert and this seems to be most of what we will need. A couple of things that we have in our old testing system is to have eMails sent (up to 5 address) to notify HR, Manager, etc. of test score and answers. Other one is to only allow person taking the test to take it X number times, and then lock them out. Would these be things that would be worth adding to your list of things to do? If so and that is something I can do and you can point me to where to add them I'd be happy to do that. Also I did try and load the source (via the dnn module install) and it would not load. I was getting: A critical error has occurred. Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\lowarj\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\DNN512\Website\Install\Temp\sllelv5z\ICGDNNQuiz.dnn'. Is this not the way to install the source for this module? (on the Module Definition page I selected "Install Module" and pointed it to the zip file I had downloaded) If not could you tell me the way I should be doing it? Thanks for your work on this and for making it available! -- Jim

Jim, Advanced e-mail notification options are on the list of items. As well as max attempts, I'm just unaware of the ETA on them. For loading the source, DO NOT install the source, it will NOT function. Simply unzip the files in the source package to the /DesktopModules/ folder of your DNN installation. |

Dan, We are working through the backlog of free module enhancements now. We just had releases of SQL Scheduled Jobs and Tell-A-Friend over the weekend. We hope to get to the other modules in the very near term. |
